About Trademark Builders

Marc Taweel has been in the building business since he was 18. He initially had plans to become a mechanical engineer, but deferred his studies to take up a carpentry apprenticeship with his builder father. It wasn’t long before he discovered his love for the trades, getting great satisfaction from producing quality work.

In 2000, he set up Trademark Builders and, at first, renovations made up the bulk of his work in the Glen Iris area, with most projects coming through word-of-mouth recommendations.

Over the years, Marc has built up a team of reliable and experienced tradespeople. They’re all as passionate about building as he is. On top of that, they’re all really decent people, who are easy to get on with – having a great relationship with our clients is as important to us as providing top quality workmanship.

Over time, too, Trademark Builders has branched out, working across Melbourne and the surrounding area. The range of our projects has broadened as well, from home renovations and new homes to multi-residential complexes and other larger scale works.

We understand how important your home is to you

We know that your home is almost certainly your biggest financial investment. It’s also something you care deeply about. We’re homeowners, too, so understand what that means.

Trademark Builders has built its reputation through word-of-mouth recommendation. That has come about through the high standard of our workmanship and the professional way we work as well as through qualities we think are just as important – honesty, integrity and good character.

It’s important you know who you’re dealing with before you let them anywhere near your home – from the very first meeting and initial design concept right through to the handover stage, you can trust Trademark Builders.

This is how it works

Every case is different, but this will give you an idea of the process involved in your building project.

First of all we’ll get together and find out what you need. That sounds simple enough, but from our experience, you may need some help to work that out. After the initial meeting, we’ll send you a detailed project brief, which will give us a clear picture of the type of home you are wanting to build or renovate, and your expectations. This will be followed by a face-to-face meeting to clarify your needs even further. If you already have your own plans, we will ask you to provide us with a copy at this stage.

If you don’t already have plans, we will provide you with a fee proposal for your design. Once the final design concept is completed (this may require several discussions), we will give you an accurate cost guide for the build, to make sure we’re still on budget. All other services including interiors, landscape design, lifestyle luxuries and so on can be finalised at this stage. Once approved by you, the design can then be completed along with all the other necessary documents required for the building permit.

At this stage, whether you already have your own plans or we’ve done the design for you, a fee proposal for the build will be provided. Once accepted and all details are confirmed, an HIA contract will be supplied with specification documents for you to review. When you’re clear on everything, there’ll be a meeting for both parties to sign the contract. You’ll also be required to pay a 5% deposit on signing, and at that point we’ll start organising your insurance policy and a building permit.

Throughout the build, you’ll be able to log into a secure portal set up just for your project. Here, you’ll be able to communicate with our team, look at construction photos and updates of your project, view the schedule, review and approve (and change if you need to) the selection of materials and various items for the build.

Once the project is finished, we’ll have a final inspection to make sure everything’s as it should be (and you’ll be able to point out anything that you might have noticed). When that’s done, we’ll organise your certificate of occupancy and provide you with a kit that contains warranties and instructions to help you take care of your new home.
We might even have a little celebration with you to mark the end of our part in the project, and the beginning of your new life.
